Lent 19

Today was a shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiity day! It was a very hard day at work. I sell stuff. I didn’t sell enough today. I have a very hard time having “organic, brainstorming” conversations that are really about talking people into buying more stuff.

Then I had a long difficult conversation with my ex-wife. We disagree about a lot of stuff that I don’t need to air out here. But today she told me that our 9 year daughter who already takes Klonopin also startedĀ Prozac today. A rough conversation ensued.

But I am thankful today. I am thankful first and foremost for my children. And I am thankful for Imagine Dragons. In particular, I am thankful for their now 5 year old album, “Night Visions.” I put it on, on the way to school. The kids were singing along with every word and my daughter – my amazing daughter – was playing “drums” on her folder all the way to school.

That’s about it. Not every day brings with it 500+ words of profundity (or absurdity you choose). But each day does bring an opportunity to live for those I declare I’d be willing to die for. The former is the harder task. Definitely harder. But it is also, well… the one where I get to watch them grow and sing and play drums and air guitar and tell them each day how much I love them.
